Timpanogos Half Marathon

Race 3: down! ANNNNND:

I totally PR'ed. OH YEAH!  I was so nervous that I wouldn't preform very well in this race, after a long hiatus of sickness and then laziness.  But I made it!  Think of how much faster I would have been if I wasn't slacking off o.O
Anyway-  I totally forgot my body glide, my Canada tattoos, and I didn't wear me inspirational shirt :(  What the heck!  But no batteries died, and no knees throbbed :)  I was also much more consistent with my pace.  Almost the entire time I was a sub-9 minute mile pace, while last race I had booked it for 7 miles and then died the last part.
So yeah. Kind of the bomb.
Sam was the only one who took pictures... But I'll need to jack his phone to post them.  It's cool, I know where he sleeps and his phone is always near ;)

Like the good old days!

EFY kiddos are everywhere at BYU!  It's kind of fun watching them all interact!  Oh, those days...
Anywho, today at work (I work in an office in the Wilk) this precious 15ish year old boy came in and gave me one of those roses made out of a napkin.  It was adorable!  Totally made my day.  Then later he and his friend came walking by and waved very enthusiastically at me and my coworker. D'awww!

Molly VS Bellatrix

Q – Why the match-up between Molly and Bellatrix [in the final battle]?

JKR’s A – Molly is a very powerful witch. Anyone that could raise Fred and George must be powerful. But sometimes that fact gets lost because her skills — like magical cooking, which is much harder than it looks, as I tried to show in the tent scenes — don’t draw much attention. But I wanted to make the point that just because a woman dedicates her life to her family, doesn’t mean she’s not highly skilled and talented and powerful. And I liked the idea [o]f paring Bellatrix’s obsessive, disturbing love for Voldemort with Molly’s maternal love. The theme of maternal love, and how being loved gives you power, was important to me throughout the books.

That awkward moment...

...when every time you are sick, people assume that you're pregnant.
(I'm not!)

...when you try to convince your husband who hardly ever gets sick that running is good for you, but you, the marathoner, is the one who always gets the plague.

...when you're walking across campus when you've obviously been crying and people look at you like you're a crazy person.  I get emotional when I'm sick and can't find a work replacement and don't have keys to go home or a phone to call husband, ok!?
(I'm still not pregnant!)

And now, my favourite picture from AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com

A couple of dang good ways to eat your veggies.

First off, everyone go buy a spaghetti squash, steam it whole for about 30 minutes, and be amazed at how dang good it is! Add a little Smart Balance and seasoning salt, or just eat it plain.  You can also try it with tomato sauce (like real spaghetti!) but it's seriously so good just on it's own.  Plus, way way healthy.

Second, go buy some yellow squash, carrots, and get some free zucchini from the people who keep trying to get rid of it.    Slice it up.  Cook it in a frying pan with some garlic, basil, and oregano until it's tender.  Bake uncovered at 325F for about 15-20 minutes.  Season with salt and pepper to taste.
HOLY SMOKES!
You won't be able to handle the deliciousness.

***PS: Very easy way to make brown rice a little tastier: Cook it with low sodium veggie broth instead of water

Happy Birthday, America

I made you a cake.
Sorry it's not very pretty.

No but seriously, The 4th of July weekend was way fun.  Sam secretly bought Stadium of Fire tickets, and I secretly totally thought he did ;)  It was way fun!  They parachuted the flag in, David Archuletta and Brad Paisley sang, and there was a fantastic fireworks show!
That day I also, very wisely, ran 16 miles in the noonday sun and got the worst sunburn of my life.  I normally don't even burn, but this time I got freaking blisters! What the heck!
For the actual 4th, we went up to Alpine to hang with the fam.  If you sit on the roof, you have a 360 degree view of fireworks allll across the valley.  It was awesome!
Here is Sam trying to coach me off of the roof.  I thought I was going to die.
